Children's Etiquette

If Inge has a specialty other than cooking,

it consists of her ability to reach out to

children.  For many years now, she has successfully taught cooking and cooking safety to children as young as four years of age.

Inge teaches cooking and safety in an environment that is also emotionally safe and encouraging.  We find that most parents, not to mention their children, want the children to come back for more.

In fact, many parents say to us, "I wish you had a class like that for me!"

Most children in America today have no conception of the etiquette of the dinner table (or breakfast table, or lunch table).  Many adults don't either, and yet many of our clients come to us hoping that we can give their children a grounding in etiquette that they themselves never had.

Note that etiquette does include manners, but it is much more than mere manners.  It is not bad manners not to know the names of utensils or where to place them; this is the province of etiquette, and because knowledge is indeed a type of power, we find that our etiquette classes almost magically empower the children in them.

German Language

Sign Your Child Up!

Inge, a native of Germany, has lived and traveled all over the world and spoken many different languages, but it is the German language and culture that she prefers to introduce to her young charges.

In addition to being the language other than English that she knows best, German is less likely to be taught in rural Colorado schools than Spanish or even French -- and even where other European languages are taught, those languages are seldom taught along with information about their culture of origin.  This is an unfortunate omission!

Inge's language instruction therefore exposes children to a language and a major European culture -- Germany, home of the earliest scholars, philosophers, and musicians -- that they might not otherwise encounter.
